Perhaps this may be useful for anyone looking to do a custom championship with bigger grids: 99 - Nordschleife 24h/VLN 99 - Spa Combined 63 - Road America 57 - Monza 55 - Spa GP 51 - Mid Ohio 51 - Silverstone GP/Int'l 51 - Sonoma 49 - Laguna Seca 49 - Spielberg Sud 49 - Silverstone National/Historic 47 - Hungaroring 47 - Nordschleife & Tourist 47 - Sepang 47 - Shanghai 47 - Spa Classic 45 - Indianapolis 45 - Nurburgring GP/Short 45 - Portimao 45 - Suzuka GP/East 43 - Paul Ricard 43 - Slovakiaring 41 - Sachsenring 40 - Macau 39 - Chang 39 - Nurburgring Sprint 39 - Salzburgring 37 - Imola 37 - Raceroom Raceway 37 - Zolder 35 - Bathurst 35 - Falkenberg 35 - Karlskoga 35 - Lausitzring 35 - Mantorp 35 - Moscow 35 - Norisring 35 - Oschersleben 35 - Spielberg 33 - Brands Hatch 33 - Hockenheimring GP 33 - Suzuka West 31 - Anderstorp 31 - Hockenheimring National/Short 31 - Knutstorp 31 - Zandvoort 29 - Stowe 25 - Chang D
Based on the above, a couple of questions to a dev or beta tester type people.... 1. Are these numbers final or will at least some circuits be able run with more AI in future? 2. What are the deciding factors in determining the maximum number of AI a circuit can run? A few circuits at the bottom of the list stand out to me because I would expect them to allow more than 23 AI. Shanghai for one. A large, ultra-modern facility that has hosted WEC events. I would expect to be able to run as many AI as somewhere like Chang. Nurburgring GP is another. If it's using the same pit complex as the 24hr layout then surely it can host more than 23 AI. Monza has recently hosted a Blancpain Endurance round with over 60 entries. I don't expect every track to have the capacity for 99 AI, not even 50, but it would be great if a few more circuits could hold large grids of 30-40 cars. Thanks for implementing this feature. What has been achieved already is brilliant.
My guess is that the tracks need some updating work so they can host larger grids and that couldn't be squeezed in before the patch. Pretty sure (some of) the regular tracks, like Monza and Shanghai, will get updated eventually.
Thanks for that, I was going to do the same but you've beaten me to it and given me time for a few more laps instead! Really useful info; ibwas wondering the same about Shanghai and I was surprised Hungaroring only has one extra too. Either way, great to see how many have already been updated, I was only expecting a few tracks to have this feature to start with.
Irl, a number of endurance races use shared pit stalls, with some events having up to 7 teams share one pit.
Yeah, but for the sake of these games, it's garage space that is the limitation, with each pit stall sharing the burden for 2 or 3 garages usually. It's a bit difficult to simulate the garage stacking effect of the N24, I'm sure! Even that event had come down to 4-6 sharing a garage in recent years, although it's a lot of fun to be in and around them at night.
as of now, it would take all of 5 min to add ghosting for ai controlled cars when they pit, and maintain that until they are clear of every car in pitlane.

Updated again as max AI number at some circuits has been reduced. (thanks @Flyingnono & @Steve Rosswick )
3 tracks for me : monza, portimao and laguna seca. I don't know if barthust has been changed i didnt buy it
