GearEx DTME Weekend 1st run : It was a strange but very thrilling DTM 014 race at Zandvoort last evening, which I, to my own surprise, won ! No need to applause cause after watching the replay I realized that there was misunderstanding as it was a 30 minutes run, (which I personally realized after Lap 2 when I had a look at the timer ) so that some m8s thought to have a mandatory pitstop, while there was no tyre wear or other features activated so that it would make no sense to pit with full functional tyres actually... Starting from 5th position the guys up front were really fast (the leader ran off like Jamie Green today) and after realizing we are on track for 30 mins I did my best to keep up with their pace but focusing on my own line and rythm primarly. And as it was a grid of experienced DTME drivers it kept me really busy ...very close bumper to bumper racing, clean and fair....At the middle of our race Rella was pressuring me from behind (plus another driver at his tail) and in the curvy middle sector I had one of three double-shift-issues ( &%!!!??) lost momentum and came onto the grass. Rella then slightly bumped into me tho I managed not cause a heavy crash (see screenies) cause his pursuer was already beneath me. Rella actually thought it was his fault and waited for me (sry)...well, I caught up with the group in front and then started to wonder why one after another came to pits - some I could pass by pressureing them into driving error, one BMW in Front suddenly vanished (probably DQ) and so I ended up leading the grid, while the actual leader caught up, as well as Rella . But since I`m still used to long racing I could maintain my position while the one behind lost his focus a few times - well, wtf, lucky winner !
Actually I went to the pits because I felt already dizzy because of the laggy Euronics Benz in front of me ;-). I didn't want to crash him but couldn't overtake as the car was jumping from my perspective from left to right all over the track. (No offence)
Oh yes, don`t remember if it was the Benz but there was someone in front of me lagging like hell but the BMW driver, who later vanished (I guess)took care of him - didn't ram him off I mean, rather looked like he pressured him into a an error @T1...very courageous btw. or the other one didn`t lag so much on the BMWs side...
had a blast with you guys at Moscow yesterday afternoon (my time) That is usually a bad track for me but was running second on the last lap with Fairman filling my mirror and then true to form I ran wide and let a few spots go and finished 5th. Great give and take racing. I gave room and had no one force me off on contested corners. great fun!!
Started from the back in that race and finished 4th.You was in the dark green merc wasnt you mike? Was a great race.Second race at redbull wasnt a good one for me But i was impressed by the grid size and the fact most of us got through turn 1 unscathed.
Yeah I was in WIckens car I believe. We traded turns in front of each other a few times. I had to leave just before the race at Redbull and that is one of my better tracks.
I was a bit overcautious trying to DRS you Mike, cause before I had a warmup race there and got literally stuck in the pitlane when I tried the same with another guy lol (spun directly into the pitlane guess my brakebalance wasn`t quiet right ) - yep was a nice race - Red Bull I#m guilty of rage quit cause , honestly, I did Spielberg so often that I need a break from it for some weeks...without motivation no track feels good...
A few times you had a real run on me. I tried to give you room but eventually I had to take the corner. Hopefully I wasnt blocking. I tend to spend too much time worrying whats in the mirror and then make a mistake.
You surprised me at that occasion because your braking was very tight while before you were more cautious - hehe - never underestimate your opponent
haha, that was likely me looking in the mirror and then missing my braking point.... I knew I was swimming with the sharks in that race so I was trying to be careful and run someone off the road.

Well, a brief review of tonites racing : Was a full success with Tim hosting, 16-18 drivers from all over the place, some weird things happened in between nevertheless the connection remained stable on my side - well with "homemade" servers there still seem to be some issues (to be fixed) specially for the host - but no reason at all to get frustrated - thanks to all who joined our session !
