Can a developer confirm (or not) that you can use the liveries from the Hillclimb pack everywhere else ? For instance the Yacco BMW 320 in G5 Classics races or the Primagaz M1 in Procar races ? I have little interest for hillclimb itself but there are some cars in that pack I was planning on getting one day ...
Some content from Dedicated Server preview: Cars: Australian Nationals - Falcon FG (weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) BL Cup - BL 850 (Google finds some German RC Buggies cup - http://www.bl-cup.de/) GTR Asia - ? G5 Classics: Fabcar 935 Nissan Silvia Turbo Nissan Skyline 2000RS GTR1: Nissan GT-R ADAC 2014: Ruf RT12R Tracks: Norfschleife Siverstone
I think it will be featured on the S3S or RaceRoom Youtube channel later this evening or tomorrow... at least the last dev streams are available there.
So, does this mean dedicated servers are in our near future? I don't understand any part of this post. Are we going to have full control over server settings or are they prefab like the current servers and we have to race what they choose for us? Wouldn't these cars/tracks be added to the game itself or are they only available on dedicated servers? Very confused, I'd have thought the boards would be alive with chatter about the new update and the content of the dev stream but I can hardly find mention of either.
The dedi server tool will allow you to set many of your own options, including which cars and tracks will be included on the server.
Excellent. I missed the stream so I didn't get to catch all the details. Dedi's are easily my most anticipated feature so I'm anxious to know about them and when we might have them. Thanks for the update.
Well, the upcoming transmission simulation sounded quite spectacular (even when you thought "sounds" couldn't get any better).
@brandon You could see the cars when they showed how to configure the dedi servers in the drop down menus. So looks like an unofficial(accidental?) confirmation on what's to come. Also GTR class has 9 cars in it, currently are 6 in the game. Fingers crossed for my GTR3 RUF
FYI, the video showing the Dedicated Server tool, was captured in our development environment, which means you were seeing some placeholders (in car list). Don´t make assumptions based on those
It might be worth mentioning that the Dedicated Server tool will spawn a HTTP server which exposes an API. The frontend UI (which was shown on stream) then works against that API. So you can access the admin tools through a browser remotely without having to "remote desktop" to the machine running the dedi servers. The API should be fairly easy to work with so if you want to interface programmatically with our solution using your own custom platform that should be very doable. For example having reports after a race sent to your private tournament tool, have community members vote on what cars/tracks to spawn next, automatically adding penalty weights based on results etc. We really want it to become a flexible tool for communities and server owners.
