I use TrackIR but before I sprung for it, I used an app on my phone called Smooth Track. I wanted to make sure I'd enjoy it first before paying for TrackIR. Supposedly, TrackHat is really good as is Delanclip. I bought my TrackIR used for $30 from someone on FB Marketplace about 3 years ago. It's lasted good so far
That’s why I sometimes ent you guys living in US about the joy of 2nd hand stuff purchase We have yahoo auction and stuff here but it’s a bit challenging with stuff niche like this there is an auction starting now but it’s version 4 and it’s damaged so it’s a NO GO for me thanks for the feedback in any case much appreciated and FORD FTW!!!
View attachment 25340 The wife relented and allowed update to RR3055. Big improvement on the Playseat, although obviously not in the same league as the fantastic extrusion rigs, which unfortunately aren't quite compact enough for my needs. Next on the horizon, I envisage a DD wheelbase; Fanatec CSL or Moza R9.....
BTW. @ RR Playseat owners: You can mount a regular race seat (Sparco or whatever you like) on the base. It's a welcome improvement cause the original RR Seats (not Tracktime) are of low quality more or less...
Nice, but somehow unsatisfying cause you should take off the price tag from your camera lense [Irony out]
Thrustmaster 599XX Alcantara -> standalone USB Mod Next week my Moza R9 will arrive, so i had to convert all of my Thrustmaster wheels into USB standalone "QR" versions. The 300mm Alcantara is my absolute favorite, as you can see it's allready heavy used. Conversion is done with an Arduino Pro Micro, so its recocnized as a gamecontroler under windows. To get enough space for the Arduino inside, i had to remove the pcb board followed by the 4-way switch and had to find a solution to keep the shifter paddle working. I've also added two additional buttons and removed the mannetino, as the 599XX don't had one of those. Shifter paddles have 4 magnets on the outside and 4 magnets inside (each side) to get a nice resistance while shifting. The stupid springs on the inside are removed, no need for them. I am overall pretty happy with the result, everything works like a charm, and the wheel still looks fresh after almost 5 years now. Pictures: I still have to cover the backside of the yellow buttons with a pice of Alcantara... Questions and comments are very welcome!
After persuading the wife to indulge me in our shared space (living room), cockpit upgraded from RR3055 to a Treq One aluminium profile rig, budget priced and reasonably compact, happy days Added a seat from a VW Eos, fitted felt pads to feet to enable sliding from it's 'storage' space to my desk and back. Cannot fault the rig, which was reasonably easy to assemble and once fine tuned it really adds to the immersion because there's no flex or movement, especially when braking, which should aid my laptime consistency, but more specifically, enjoyment, immersion and longevity. Next black Friday, DD wheelbase next..... Before After
Tip: lift the TV/Monitor to get it at the edge of the table... that will make your FOV much bigger and much better... otherwise, you are driving through a window that is far away.
Thank you. That's more or less as far as the monitor goes as it's on monitor arm, however, I have taken your advice & used the in-game FOV editor to improve my view, as seen by my updated pics.
@Ur64n 50ulj4h Also, there are really cheap monitor stands that sits on top of you wheel. That will make a huge difference. Next Level Racing Challenger Monitor Stand NLR-A015 B&H Photo (bhphotovideo.com) The Best Monitor Stands for Sim Racing - Coach Dave Academy
I have a drafting desk that is 42"/106.68cm wide. I am wondering if there are any floor standing extruded aluminum triple stands that would straddle my desk? I haven't found a decent answer from any of the MFGs, although I didn't ask them directly. (Will send an email after typing this.)
@Wilko Jones I have this one and it's really big!! https://www.prosimu.com/en/shop-ca.html?store-page=PTMS-Triple-Monitor-Stand-p383655264
