Greetings. Zandvoort will not load for me. No matter the car, layout or mode. I do own the track and have since 2022. It will progress past car selection and to the Did You Know? loading screen but never goes beyond this. I've waited as long as ten minutes. The loading animation 'dots' are animated, not locked up or anything. Just stays stuck in this screen until I close the application Any fix or advice? Love the track and would like to drive it in RaceRoom
Verify Raceroom files on Steam. If it doesn't help, rename this folder Documents\My games\Simbin to Simbin-backup.
I should have said I did the file integrity check on Steam and it did not fix it. I will try renaming the folder
Would the connection prevent one track out of all of them from running? Every other track loads, and I own them all. Is this something unique? Your advice to rename the folder is specific and indicates perhaps it has occurred previously to others.
Thanks for the suggestions but renaming the folder did not fix it. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
No, this advice is not specific at all, it's one of the most common "fixes" for various game problems. That, and verifying the files. Did you try VPN? Try also disabling your antivirus, if you use any. I'm kinda out of ideas.
If its item specific, then try deleting the track from game files and then verify game files via steam
Thanks for the suggestions. Haven't tried a VPN because it doesn't make sense that a poor connection would only cause me to have trouble with Zandvoort. I'll try deleting the track since I have nothing to lose. Maybe a dev will spot this and have an idea. I said earlier that 'every other track loads', but more accurately I should say every other track I've attempted has worked. There are surely a few I have yet to try. After renaming the folder (which resets all of your personal settings to default, mind) I tried to load the current competition at Zandy and went to walk the dog. Came back 15 minutes later and it was still stuck in the loading screen.
Yeah sure, if it will help I'll do whatever is needed. I'll try the track delete first and see what happens.
I removed the track from the game directory, and ran Steam integrity check and it restored the track, but the problem remains. Frustrating. Is it possible that RaceRoom sees me as not owning the track?
@dbond1 can you please attach a game.log file from a session where you reproduced it? - Start the game - Try to load the track - Close the game - Get the last modified game .log file from ..\Documents\My Games\SimBin\RaceRoom Racing Experience\UserData\Log\ and send it to me or attach it here.
Just in case... in order to get out of it I need to kill process since the game is stuck in the loading screen and thought that meant there might be a possibility that the file you are asking for does not get generated or updated as we need it to be for this purpose. Probably not, but thought I'd throw that out there.
@dbond1 Hmm this is interesting - it seems it returns no errors and chugs along but read files very slowly? Have you got the game installed on some very slow disk or possibly very fragmented or even a network drive? I can see that you start loading files and then 3 minutes later when you eventually interrupt the process, it is still loading files. In other attempts, what was the longest you tried to let it load? Also can you load the same cars on another track first, then load zandvoort, and then pass me the game.log of that, please? Would like to compare load times.
Maybe 15 minutes is how long I've waited. Is my drive fragmented? Possibly? Yeah, I don't know but I suppose I could defrag it. It is installed on a mechanical drive, not SSD. Other tracks do load fine, as expected, less than 30 seconds anyway, aside from the Nordschleife which takes a little longer of course. Yes, I can run that test
Running defrag and the analyze function it reports my drive is 0% fragmented, but I did not run it, optimize. I can do that if it might help.
