I don't think this is about working together, the ADAC is apparently looking to simply buy the DTM rights and organize it themselves.

Yup, it makes no sense to have 2 national championships running the same car spec. At least CART v Indycar had different cars.

For now DTM is death, let's see what the ADAC will publish tomorror or on friday.

Seems also without the "takeover" a DTM 2023 would have been nearly impossible because of heavy finacial troubles by ITR/DTM.

ITR is dissolving, but it is still possible that the ADAC will take over the DTM trademark and establish GT Masters as the base and development series and DTM as the top league.

Gerhard Berger would be a match made in heaven with Motorsport Games.

Like I thought: ADAC buys the DTM marketing rights from Gerhard Berger and will organize the DTM 2023.

So, like I thought, once again Berger runs a solvent business into the ground and takes the profits when he is bought out.

A solvent business? You are kidding. The DTM two years ago consisted of only two makes and he took over on his own risk.

He took over in 2017 when Merc were still in it, didn´t he?

Yes but then the ITR was still controlled by BMW Audi and Mercedes. Scapegoatism is too simple an answer for a complex situation. I doubt that any other manager would have fared better considering manufacturer pull-out, Corona induced empty tribunes, inflation crises etc.

Perhaps, but I see a long history of quittting companies after 5 years or less and taking a lot of money with him, maybe that´s the smart way to operate but his father´s haulage company was in difficulty too. He got out of Toro Rosso at the high point and one could argue he was clever enough to quit BMW before their relationship with Williams soured and imploded.

Also ADAC made it through the same difficult period.

In any case, that´s 2 licences less for Raceroom in 2023, with WTCR current format done as well.

Why? The ADAC will probably continue to organize both DTM and GT Masters. They will announce their plans next Thursday.

Why would they though? Now they have a premium brandname to work with so surely they are better focusing on only one objective, especially against SRO. Of course the ADAC Masters could be run as a feeder series or a pro am cup.

Ferrari are looking for a team principal so it seems Berger might be in with a chance of making some more money for a short term contract!

So, DTM will be their top flight series in 2023. The former ADAC GT Masters and the Prototype Cup Germany will be merged to form the new DTM Endurance series which will act as a support series to DTM. The calendar is basically the old ADAC GT Masters calendar plus Norisring.

I´m not happy that ADAC GT Masters is now history. Now the GT3s have to race together with LMP3 to form this "DTM Endurance".

Also many teams from the GT Masters are not happy about this.

DTM should just die. It's not DTM with GT3 cars anyway. Let it disappear.

ADAC should have renamed the TCR Germany to DTM.
