YT randomly recommended this in the morning. Am I the only one who sees the similarities between baroque music and metal? I mean regarding complexity and intensity, both in terms of vocals and instruments, I definitely feel it.

No, there are similarities in techniques, especially regarding the use of arpeggios and counterpoint (mainly prog-metal for that one.)
But most metal-bands use such heavy distortion that it can be hard to discern. So people tend to listen to it for the energy.
Although it should also be said that the metal-genre is so vast and varied that it's hard to pin-point similarities.
And I doubt anyone would compare Slayer to Broschi. :)

A very good example of this is Deep Purple's "Highway Star" from their ' 72 album Machine Head. John Lord's organ (from min 2 on) and Blackmore's guitar solo (starts around 3:40) are clearly already oriented towards classic music style elements. Didn't listen to that older stuff for a while, so thanks for bringing it back to my attention!

    Edit:
Not exactly on-topic, but interesting and well made video about the influence of classical music, be it modern rock, or even dancefloor music.

When speaking of Purple and classical music, I always have to think of April, also not 100 % related.
The Clip is from the art film P2, kinda bizarre.

I think rock/metal music works pretty well mixed with classical elements, just a few examples:
