Yeah, thanks man, I knew all that, should've been clearer on the issue. I appreciate though that you loaded up your dll file. So I know this is definitely one that works. Had a few versions lying around I think, but since it worked fine I didn't bother. What's your experience with SSR in the oc file? Is it better to tweak that file and leave the HMD in it's native res? Or do you have the res increased in the HMD (Oculus SW) as well for standalone games? And which one will the PC-game pick? Always wondered.
Yeah I cannot remember the exact render resolution in Meta Quest software but it is the 2nd highest resolution at 80hz. I use that for everything and find solid 80fps is good for me. I then add the ss in opencomposite.ini file as well as define it in the options panel as I wrote above. In RRRE that give me a really good resolution for racing, looks very nice.
I see, well I hope to get it going soon. Then I'll tweak those parameters to see what fits my system - and my eyes
Same issue but G2, so no open composite. I just don't understand how the update broke the sim that probably ran the smoothest due to being light on the hardware. Its not even playable with performance this poor struggling to get 40fps. I've tried everything I can possibly think of at this point.
Sorry if this is not possible for you but as I owned the Reverb G2 I know the feeling. I just want to suggest that you can pickup a new Quest 3 512gb version for very good price now during Amazon Prime Sale. All you need in addition is a good Link Cable. I went from G2 to Pimax 8K to original Crystal (returned/refunded) and bought the Quest 3 as a backup until I could buy a Crystal Light. That was 5 months ago. I was so impressed by how great Q3 is for sim racing that I still have not bought the Crystal Light. The image quality is amazing when properly setup. But is just a suggestion & recommendation.
Raceroom is running again under opencomposite. Yay! Can't really offer a solution because I'm not sure what happened really, but maybe it helps anyone who encounters the same problem. Here's the reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/dcsworld/comments/1bnspf6/comment/lr9vj1b/?context=3
While it's unfortunately not a fix for some of the HMD specific issues, here is a teaser of the GPU performance improvements that are coming soon with our October update The performance improvement will have the biggest impact in the cockpit view, with high resolution, high AA and high shadow settings. Which all applies to VR, so it should benefit everyone here a lot! Even if you are CPU limited, you should be able to run higher resolution/AA than before for free. Here is a quick VR frametime comparison I did of current build (green) and the optimisations (orange). with VR optimised settings in a rolling start of 24 dtm23 cars. on my 5800X3D and 3080, with 100% resolution in steamVR on my bigscreen beyond: I think this 10-20% gain is a very realistic scenario of what you can expect in VR, as the cpu load is very high at the start of a race with a full grid, and I'm not on any crazy resolution to force a GPU limit. Just lapping with one car on track I've even seen a gain of 40-50% fps in 2D cockpit view with 4K and 8xSSAA
Wow, awesome news! Just received my 5700X3D to take away some load off my 3070. Together with those improvements I'll gladly take a better performance overall. Looking forward! PS: Bigscreen beyond? Showoff!
Hey all, my main machine, which is Quest 3+i7-13600+RTX 4070, runs *GREAT* ( Oculus Hard Link, and OpenComposite replacing the horrible SteamVR, and I have opencomposite.ini and the 'wolf' DLL fork of openvr_api.dll. ) I want to get my son into RaceRoom on his PC. His PC is an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + 2060 RTX Super and a Fanatec CSL DD / Mclaren GT3 setup. So it's not as powerful. But I've been unable to get the VR working with his setup even trying to copy things over from my machine. VR only worked with SteamVR, but attempts to replace it both with Virtual Desktop / VDXR or the hard wired oculus link resulted in OVR errors (-3001 whatever that means). It's not clear to me. --- do we still need that forked version of openvr_api.dll for RaceRoom? Or should the latest work? Is this an AMD issue? Do I even have to have SteamVR installed if I'm trying to use OpenComposite? Any thoughts would be great. I don't mind investing in buying the same content all over again under his account, but I NEED to get VR working for him, even if the detail is lowered. If anyone has a comparable setup to his and has been able to bypass SteamVR please let me know. It's bad enough his computer doesn't match my specs, but I don't want to add insult to injury by forcing him to use SteamVR.
I tried it, unfortunately my game crashes on launch with the error "Failed to initialize libOVR: -3001" with that file I tried several different versions of the openvr_api.dll but none of them work for me (I have a Pimax Crystal Light)
Hey, this really sucks! I also had this problem where RR wouldn't star up anymore under opencomposite (maybe you wanna have a look at page 41). In my trying to randomly change things (e. g. different DLL because I had various and no idea anymore which was which lol) I got various error messages. I remember one had the error code you're describing. Can't really offer a step by step solution but what did the trick for me was shutting down all Oculus services in windows task manager (should be three or four) and repairing the Oculus client (! not reinstalling! at least for me reinstalling did nothing). It runs even better than before. I'm simply to dumb to understand why but I take it - while it lasts There has been another step involved that you can find via the reddit-link I posted on page 41, but as I remember that specific angle was not successful. But who knows if it does the trick for your son? Your other questions: - I think steamVR has to be installed to trick the sim it will start under steamVR although it's OC. - As far as I can tell the DLL file is required (not so sure about the opencomposite ini-file). Good luck! May he race soon in OC-glory!
I had the exact same error message (Quest 3) and repairing the Oculus client with all services turned off in task manager did the trick I guess. If the installer of your Pimax HMD software offers the same option could be worth a shot. I never owned a Crystal tho.
thanks for your reply! there's nothing to repair with the Pimax Crystal Light as it is a wired headset
there is (Pimax Play), but there's no way to repair it, the software just detects the HMD when it is connected
Is it required to have Pimax Play running on your PC to use the Crystal? If so open the installer for PP and look for a repair option. A wild guess I know, but unfortunately that's all I can contribute to your problem. Fingers crossed!
