After releasing Interlagos last month we are happy to announce that another highly requested track is coming to RaceRoom very soon! Donington Park is one of the most internationally-renowned and historically significant circuits in the world. The 4 km long track is located near Castle Donington in the picturesque Leicestershire, England. Being Britain's first true road circuit to be built, the circuit has a rich history in motorsports, spanning from classic Grand Prix racing in the 1930s through to the modern era. The track hosts major national and international events, including yearly visits of the BTCC, British GT/F3, World Superbikes and a historic festival. Drivers love the challenging layout defined by fast flowing corners like the "Craner Curves" and the "Old Hairpin" combined with good overtaking opportunities at "The Esses" and the "Melbourne Hairpin". Donington Park will become available very soon! More previews here: https://www.flickr.com/raceroom
They graphic/texture artists do an amazing with the shaders and textures. I just wish they would upgrade to DX12 and implement optional advanced rendering techniques (SSR, SSAO, optional raytraced shadows, raytraced reflections, etc...). The last hurdle for this amazing simulator.
I think this is not possible with the current game engine. My guess is that it is to hard to implement this. They would have to rewrite the core of the engine. This is only a guess of course as I’m not an software engineer.
@Georg Ortner Hi Georg. Dont get me wrong Georg. Still love this Sim. Cam you pls explain me why you dont go up a step & offer us LaserScanned tracks? Like in rF2. Why don't you, for example, offer the option of offering the track for the usual price without the laser scan, and for all those interested in lidar tracks, you raise an additional charge of 4 to 5 euros. I love RaceRoom and would love to see it at the top. why don't you take a financial risk with a track? Then you will find out whether it is worth it for you or not. For us definitely! You are very reserved and passive about such things. well in the end your sponsor has the last word, I hope that something positive will happen in this direction soon. LaserScanned is now the trend in SimRacing. And RaceRoom needs it too. Just my 2 cents on that.
I have to agree with you. As much as I appreciate RR. But I'll get the track anyway. I appreciate S3 and his serious work very much. Nevertheless.. Please change something
Great stuff - One of my go-to favourites, and I'm looking forward to pairing it with RRs range of cars.
We are very excited to bring you one of the most internationally-renowned circuits in the world! Donington Park is now available in RaceRoom https://game.raceroom.com/store/tracks/all/donington-park
I have to disagree as my old PC wouldn't be able to handle it and at the moment I don't have 3 Grand to upgrade to still be able to play a Sim/Game that I have invested heavily in for years. With your system specs I do understand why you and other people would want DX12 raytracing etc though.
Great track, love it. The AI is a bit slow in the chicane on the Grand Prix layout. Tried both in TCR and DTM21 on AI 104 level. I consistently gain at least 0.5 seconds in the 3rd sector because of this. Maybe the AI line could be adjusted slightly.
Keep in mind, offering new features doesn't prevent you from turning them off to keep a good experience like any other sim. Keeping a sim super old because of users don't have enough computer power is not a good business model to attract new users to further grow the sim.
how do you know that they didn't use scan data? the term is to be a bit overrated form some developers in my opinion, marketing. None of the sims can use raw lidar data (point cloud) or the polygon mesh when it is converted. Perhaps UE5 with Nanite. But this doesn't make sense. One you have the scan data you have to model re-model, re-mesh it. The scan data is a kind of a guide to get the right scale of the track, assets, surroundings etc. In the end its still a game and not the real track
I have to admit the track feels fantastic. Just as Sector3 is the master of sound, S397 is the master of track making. So I'm very spoiled there. But Donington feels very good. Really great work S3! A fantastic combination with the Porsche Cup Car! Keep it up!
