My TimeAttack Division Letter does not update... I am now the #338 in Raking, but still I have C class
note that the multiplayer ranking and the time attack division are two separate things time attack division is updated based on your participation in competitions multiplayer ranking is updated based on the races in ranked multiplayer servers
Hi community, let me repeat the facts: "There are 4 divisions, splitting the ranked players as follows: A ( top 10% of ranked players ) B ( from top 10% to top 30% of ranked players ) C ( from top 30% to top 60% of ranked players ) D ( from 60% to 100% of ranked players ) This rating is calculated from your performances in Time Attack competitions. You improve your Rating by standing higher up in any of the active competitions.Ranks will be updated after every major series of competitions, for example the end of a championship or just before a new esport series begins." So far so good! Now my question: The last update in June 2020 improved my time attack license to B. Now, after a short trip to Europe, I come home and realise that I have been downgraded to C?!? (Mid November still B) At least the last 15 races I have performed 1 x C, 4 x B and 10 x A I hope you understand my disapointment, as I was waiting to get promoted to A, but maybe there is a little bug in the system, or did I miss an update in the rules? Cheers Wolfgang
When you say races, do you mean actual races either in single player or in multiplayer or do you mean competitions?
Hi Nico, I'm sorry, I meant competitions, related to the threat of course: my last results from new to old: KTM: 133/2155 GTÜ: 40/456 CR1: 62/1309 FRJ: 53/763 ID1: 186/570 (hardware failure) KTM 114/1381 BMW 235: 161/3217 CLK: 250/3105 FRJ 93/1856 P1: 406/2642 FRJ 116/2582 KTM 242/2704 So, maybe somebody can have a look at the system? Greez Wolfgang
Maybe they take into consideration how many laps you did? I do not care about time attack rank, I use it to get used to car / track combos. This usually means I do not a lot of laps. I was upgraded from B to A
Robert seems to be busy with other bugs..... There is never mentioned a certain number of laps that are allowed. As far as I know it's the result that counts and not the attempts. Let's wait and see.....
Guys, I am not a developer, I just start the competitions so my options here are limited. I suspect the problem is the hillclimb competition here. AFAIK, the ranks are split by 10-20-30-40% when you take the total userbase of players in competitions, and each user has a number. The 10% with highest number have A for example. But I think after looking at some overall ratings, I think the way that this number is determined is NOT 10-20-30-40% in each competition, but rather the average gap to the leader. And on the hillclimb the gaps were massive. Well - it is a possible explanation. I forwarded the request to the developers to understand what is going on. For now all I can do is not put hillclimb competitions as "ranked" in the future.
Just had a look at my profile and saw that i no longer have a time attack rank. Is there a maximum on how long ago your last competition entry can be and are only competitions during a certain time period (for example from one rank update to the next) taken into consideration for determining a players rank?
Well, 13 days ago: "I forwarded the request to the developers to understand what is going on." But I assume the devs are busy with the case how an IDR-1 racer can lead the competition of the BMW 235i? Anyway, I'm still curious about the rules for the competitions. But nobody seems to be in charge of this matter. My approach to sim-racing is a bit different: As I'm sitting here in Indonesia, in the nowhereland of ping, racing online is almost impossible due to no response from any servers. And if there is an answer, the ping is mostly above 200 ms. (speedtests show around 450 ms to Frakfurt/Germany) When introduced I had a decent rate to the ranked oceanic servers, but they were constantly empty. But being in the middle of the rainy season even that has proved impossible as no more ping rate is available So I tried the competitions and improved permanently over the last months. But the result is a downgrade from B to C without explanation Don't get me wrong, but that's not a boost for motivation
I haven't been running the Competitions for a while and I noticed I've been dropped back to D...:-(....Lets see if I enter a few, if I can get back up to C.......
Definitely we need answers on the logic of how TA ranking works in details. I am not suprised that you will find bugs within the investigation. I am new to competitions due to many cars have latest tire and physics model. I have participated all competitions this fortnight.
Hello guys, I will make sure to ask again with a little bit more intensity, to receive some more info By the way: The next update is planned for Monday, at the end of the current competitions cycle.
What I can say about the calculation is the following: We look at a time window of 12 months, or 60 competitions. What is relevant, is the percentual time gap to P1 in each competition. If you have done only a small amount of competitions, we will take some form of "average" to rank you. So basically: - The more competitions you do, the more accurate is your rank. - Not your position is relevant, but how close you are to the leader (in %, so: A 2 second gap on a 2:00 laptime is worth the same as a 1 second gap on a 1:00 laptime) - It's possible that you drop in rank despite achieving decent positions, because some good competitions from you are outside of the 12 month / 60 competition window and now don't count anymore.
@Robert Wiesenmüller How do you define the top 10%? In your example, 2 seconds in 2 minute is only 1.67 percent. I guess it is calculated from the time difference between the first few players and last few players, and work out the percentage. You also have an algorithm to exclude the unreasonable lap time from last players . Am I correct?
Thanks for asking and clearing some things up Just like benoit im wondering about the percentages tho. Being within 10% of p1 would give pretty much everybody an a rank. Going with 1%, 2% and so on would leave only a handful of people with an a rank. Neither of the two seem to be the case so theres gotta be a different way of determining things. Also i find the 60 competition time span a bit too short personally at least when there are as many competitions as there have been recently. My last competition was the vw idr at aragon which i believe was around september and ive already been without a rank for (at least) 6 weeks. Id much prefer the one year time span but maybe in the minority with that
