How to start RaceRoom in VR mode (using SteamVR): - In your Steam client library, right click RaceRoom and select "Properties". - In the Properties pop-up window, under the "General" section, click the "Set Launch Options..." button. - In the dialog box that opened, just type in "-vr" (without the quotation marks) and it will use the default value for render target multiplier, which we currently have set to 1.5. - To experiment with different render target multipliers, you can simply add the desired value after the argument, for example: "-vr 2.0" will start the game with the multiplier at 2.0. This multiplier can go as low as 0.5 and as high as 4.0 which is very high, so we recommend small steps here. Asynchronous Reprojection We recommend to allow asynchronous reprojection in the SteamVR settings, like so: In-Game tweaks before going on-track! -- We recommend that you start with LOW graphic level preset, then enable graphic options one by one in the order of priority to you. Doing so will allow you to find the sweet spot balancing resolution / graphic options and performance. -- Certain graphic settings are not available while in VR mode: Depth of Field Field of View Motion Blur Contact shadows under the cars are currently disabled vSync Resolution (done through startup argument) Settings / Options In the Control Settings, under "Secondary Functions", you will find a set of controls you can map that are VR specific: VR Reset Position - Once sitting comfortably in your driving position, hit this button to make the in-game camera placement reset to its default position VR Increase World Scale - Increases the separation of the eyepoints to make you feel bigger VR Reduce World Scale - Decreases the separation of the eyepoints to make you feel smaller VR Reset World Scale - Resets the separation of the eyepoints to its default value VR Toggle Monitor View - This will spawn a new game window that you can use to stream/record in-game footage, or show to bystanders on a standard monitor. It will use the resolution set for the game while outside of VR. Adjust Seat Forward - Use these controls to adjust the in-game seat position, in fact translating the default camera eyepoint position Adjust Seat Backward Adjust Seat Up Adjust Seat Down
Great stuff guys, bravo! Looking forward to giving this a bash. I've quickly become a VR whore and simply find it impossible to play on three screens anymore. Been waiting for VR for RaceRoom to finally get back involved in the sim in a serious way. Looking forward to this one a hell of a lot!
Great news! Finally a sim, which has VR and offers quality racing against AI, Assetto lacks in that department and Iracing is of course without AI. I’ll give that a try tomorrow! Thanks for the effort.
Anyone managed to make VR Work? in the menus are good everything is smooth as butter as soon as you can into the race shit hits the fan it starts flashing choppy then it crashes my specs are i5 4670K 4.4 16 Ram 980TI i should be able to run this.. anyone else having this issue?
Yes. Its working BUT I need world movement set to zero. Cant find a setting anywhere? Its MotionSickness with the world bumping with the car...
Wonderfull Work , thx : ) Very nice is the "Trackfly" , love it . First Try with GTX970@1450 GPU with 1,5 is good , try now 2 . 2.2 works good , VRam Load ~3,2GB , @3.0 Vram Load is ~3,7GB , not nice with GTX970 ; )
It's really demanding on the system. I have start up argument to 2.0 and graphics settings on low, except for track detail that I have on medium, and I also have car shadows on.
A big thanks to you guys. I didn't start R3E for weeks now after i got my Occulus. Since i got everything i want to drive i will buy something for the garage to support you and to show my appreciation
Thanks for the update. I'll reinstall R3E some time soon and try VR myself, but i am curious if it is possible to launch R3E not from steam VR room? Also, would like to hear what multiplier GTX 1080/CV1 owners use and what AA.
I'm using a Rift CV1 and atm it is a blurry mess, is this just the state of the current VR build or is something wrong at my end?
A blurry mess doesn't sound right. What's your system specs and settings? If you have the power for it you can try to increase the resolution. In start up type: -vr 2.0 -vr 2.5 -vr 3.0 -vr 3.5 or -vr 4.0 to get a clearer view.
