A bit disappointed with the update. In DX9 64-bit mode I had a performance drop.

Before the update I did a small test at Nurburgring GP with the 991 Cup and 9 AI cars. With v-sync enabled I got a nearly constant 60fps.

In the same test after the update I got around 35-40fps all the time.

And with DXVK mode, well the same as before the update. In some combinations it improves performance and in others it worsens.

I have also noticed that with DXVK it ignores v-sync. And if I run Raceroom from Steam selecting DXVK, the menus work very slowly and it takes a long time to load.

And since I'm not thrilled with the graphical update either, is there a way to run the pre-update version from some beta mode in Steam? Something similar to what rFactor2 offered.

will we have a user guide for "weather" settings on the dedi ? I tried some settings, but it doesn't seem to save ... or I'm not doing it as it must be done

    Greatly timed screenshot ;)
But yeah its been around for a while, however i did feel like the windshield got dirty quicker while driving the 1995 dtm around classic hockenheim compared to what i remember from most combos pre update

I have over 1600 hours in Raceroom (over 10 years!) and it used to be my go-to sim... until I became a VR-racer about a year ago. Since then it's been all AMS2 which I also love (and I still do and am looking forward to the much-anticipated version 1.6).

As odd as it may sound the main reason I didn't like VR in Raceroom was it felt claustrophobic - especially the sky box which felt 'close' rather than infinitely far away as the sky should. VR also seemed to highlight Raceroom's graphical weaknesses - flickering shadows and other artefacts. There was also the relentless blueness of everything.

I have just tried VR in the updated Raceroom and... WOW... massive improvement. I'm blown away.

Congratulations to everyone at KW Studios and all the beta-testers and everyone else involved. :)

After literally not booting up the game for almost a year the difference is breath-taking. I crashed at the top of the mountain at Bathurst as I was admiring the trees! :D

For those having problems I hope you're able to sort them out quickly.

I need to do lots of tweaking with FFB (which felt curiously limp) and buttons and the like but I am as excited as a kid at Christmas this morning. Raceroom is definitely going back on the roster for me!!

    UPDATE:
90 minutes or so later I am still delighted with how everything looks but I am having some problems and one little bug-bear has resurfaced:
    (1) the bug-bear is the mouse is visually immobilised in VR which means having to take my VR headset (and separate headphones!) on and off to do anything at all and then rush to put them back on before the race starts:mad:;
    (2) EDIT: NOW FIXED I'm having no fun at all getting my wheel (Thrustmaster T300 RS) to play nicely with R3E, with the rotation of my wheel very out-of-sync with the game wheel which affects driving significantly. I've tested a few custom rotation animations but I'm not sure if I'm even changing the right setting. It just doesn't feel right at all and I'm at a loss as to what to do... suggestions welcome ;).
    (3) EDIT: NOW FIXED The default view in VR seems to put you behind the driver which I thought would be an easy fix but I'm struggling with that too. I have tried moving seat forward... but that's hard to do in VR as you need to grapple with keyboard that you cant see.

Tired and grumpy now. Will try afresh tomorrow.

Sounds like very good news, thanks but can you tell us, are you running it just as is through SteamVR or are you using the OpenVR .dll posted here ? I have no opportunity to try it yet so your advice is appreciated !

I just ran it in Steam VR and it worked fine 'straight out of the box'. I have a HP Reverb G2.

I couldn't believe I'll ever say this but I love an Opel :D
Such a pleasure to drive. For me it's the DLC of the year in simracing.

Check these settings in the game:
    - Steering animation: Match car setup
    - Steering sensitivity: 50%
    - Steering curve exponent: 1.0

Other than that, your Thrustmaster should work fine setting the steering range automatically.

i have the same system as you basically ; and am getting well above 60fps

maybe the dinosaur is sat infront of the pc ?
    so here are my suggestions
    reinstal the dx9 from windows
in the nvidia control panel add the 64bit and the dxvk exes and set to prefer maximum power /so you have to do it twice

now run the game , try both in the dx9 and dxvk

if we were already running DXVK with the manual DLL overide before is there any manual fixing/removal to be done to use it, i notice big frame drops using the DXVK mode from the steam launcher, where I could run 90-120fps before im now slumping as low as 45fps (merc gt3 @ hockenheim)
    i9 9900kf/3080ti/64gb 5760x1080 triples

(regular mode seems to be the same performance as it was before 60-80fps)

Aside from seemingly more contrast and a less yellow toning im not noticing any significant graphical improvements? perhaps also related to bug above?

Resolves attempted so far, verify steam files, no issues.

What I can think of is that maybe DXVK 2.4 is not playing nicely with your system, as that is the version we have included. You can still use your own version of DXVK as before by putting it in the x64 folder, as we made a separate x64dxvk for the launch option.

ok that was not it, even on the other dxvk im tanked, i thought id give it a go on the new '95 content at classic Hockenheim, at the bottom corner i dropped under 30fps, not sure what to do here so I'll play regular mode for now as that is at least stable above 60fps

That's a shame, DXVK is definitely not an instant improvement on every system, but it's very odd that it changed on your system. Nothing has really changed in the way the game communicates with the GPU, so there must be some other factor at play. One thing that is always good to make sure is that you have the power profile set to maximum performance for RR in the nvidia control panel.

In my case I tried both versions on my non gaming Iris/13th gen Intel laptop. DXVK looks better on the same in game settings (everything on low) but has quite a bit of an FPS penalty. Curiously it is the only way to get car shadows below the chassis, in standard mode they were/are not visible even on max shadow settings so the cars look like they are floating over the track. That would seem to be the cause of the FPS difference too, I guess. I don´t see any graphics menu setting for the clouds - is that something that is coming soon or is it in the gameplay time of day option? I forgot to check that.

I will compare them on my gaming pc at the weekend.

Also is the drifting thing going to come in a future update because I don´t see the track or the BMW E30 that was being used in the teasers.

Did a "photo-shoot" session yesterday and Raceroom is definitely much more efficient now, even increasing the detail to ultra the frame rate was great without any signs of the stuttering which previously happened. Graphics-wise looking good so far, one thing I was able to test was the depth in free camera mode which is now much better.

Yes, that setting is available in the race menu (right under time of day if I'm not mistaken):

make sure to adjust settings, eg theres new highest aa and shadow settings, which are higher than old ultra; autoexposure also tanks performance
